What’s up Wednesday

I hope everyone is healthy and safe! Despite working with the public we have so far dodged the bullet due to taking the recommended precautions, my hands are dry and hurting from the washing and sanitizing and wearing gloves at work but I have good lotion thankfully.

This week I have cleaned out and added flower seeds that are specifically for pollinators (birds, bees, and butterflies) and went through the strawberry bed and pulled the runners that I isolated, those got brought inside so I can sell them to those who want them.

Now before ‘the Karens’ start jumping my case about making a profit right now when some people are finding it hard to put food on the table, I donate to food pantries regularly and donate garden seeds to organizations who give them away for free. I contacted The Burning Hearth Homestead about getting some seeds to augment what I already have and I will be sending them seeds at the end of the season to help their mission in helping others start a garden. And this blog is not free to run! Ok enough with my soapbox.

Kat’s walking has greatly improved with her leg braces but due to current events keeping everyone’s minds and hands occupied the potty training has kinda gone backward. But we will be getting back on that. And something I find hilarious, she is scared to death of the hens. Like hide behind me and cry scared.

Look, Mommy! Dirt!

Due to current events, we have looked towards our preparedness for certain inevitabilities. Such as loss of a job or having to take medical leave that is only partially paid, natural disaster or like what’s happening now with the panic buying and certain necessities being unavailable. I’m not saying we’ve hoarded toilet paper and food but we have enough to get us by for a bit. I’m still working on a post that expands on this theme.

This week I’ll be going to the hardware store and getting the cedar lumber for our raised beds. Due to social distancing and such, I’ll be calling ahead and giving them the measurements I need cut and then we’ll load it into the Marquis. My dinky car can’t hold it but the trunk on the Marquis is big enough to haul what we need.

Saturday: Cheeseburger Pie from an old cookbook I picked up at a rummage sale

Sunday: Hamburger Spaghetti Bake from my old WW2 cookbook

Monday: Pasta with Pesto sauce

Tuesday: Taco Salad with Tortilla cups
